"1963" - Rachel Yamagata

It took my forever to get into Rachel Yamagata. Not sure why, but thank goodness for social networking sites! Someone on LaLa recommended this song by Rachel and the rest (as they say) was history. Last year I downloaded "Letter Read" as a free iTunes sample, and I'll admit I didn't like that song. So I didn't bother to hear the rest of the album, till now. I still don't really like "Letter Read", by the way.

But I love the rest of the album, especially this song, which is a little more upbeat than the rest (titled "Happenstance"). Her new album is out now and it's called "Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart", and from what I've heard, it's also really good.

Enjoy!

The Take-Away Shows feat. Vampire Weekend

#80.2 - VAMPIRE WEEKEND - The Kids don't stand a chance
by lablogotheque

I like how the drummer is using garbage cans as his instrument.

This post is especially for @LoveMeDeux who has expressed her love this band (or rather Trust Fund Rock) on a recent  blog post. Recorded in Oct. '07, I'm pretty sure this is before the band broke out BIG in the US.

Pop Music Thursdays - Holiday edition

I've skipped the last couple of Thursdays because, well, life kinda got in the way. But I'm back and it's December. That means it's Holiday season. I'm trying really hard to get into the spirit of the month, even though I've been grumpy and "ba-hum-bug" this past week. So here we go.

Music of the season that makes me happy and totally perks me up come from the album "A Christmas Gift For You". This album is a classic and I hope you enjoy some of the tunes I selected.

The Live Rick Roll

Pure awesome, right? I still like this song, and what about Rick Astley? He looks pretty good after all these years!

I love this song!

"Where'd You Go" by Jamie Lidell.

I can't believe I had never heard about him, till about a month ago when I friend raved about his recent concert at the Fillmore. One of the amazon reviewers called him "Retro Cool" and I couldn't agree more.  Wow. I just wanna get up and dance when I hear this song. The entire album "Jim" is amazing.

My First Earthquake, "Teleprompt"

I like these guys and it's a bonus that they are local! (SF). Her voice kinda reminds me of Kate Pierson of the B-52's. I think they are quirky and fun!

About

I'm based in the Bay Area and I make videos that either go on TV or the web. Currently, I work at Revision3.

I believe I am addicted to the internet.

I like dark chocolate, red wine, pop music, good food, my dog Jango and *shocking* some reality TV shows.

I will never apologize for these interests, or force you to like them too.
